Digital image management in law enforcement. There has been increased attention on law enforcement procedures. Documenting police interaction through videos and photography has grown exponentially.  Forensic digital capture and management has expanded from the lab worker to the cop on the beat. Digital evidence continues to play a larger role in policing. There is an increased need for training in image capture and database management.

Forensic Services

Training: Forensic Photography, Drone Photography, Post Processing

Image Capture:  Scene and Evidence

FDI will respond to on-site locations to digitally document the scene of a crime or accident using established forensic photography techniques. By following law enforcement standard operational procedures, the images captured by FDI will be admissible in a court of law. All the images captured will have metadata that includes date, time, camera settings, and GPS location.

Items of evidence; either on-site or shipped to the FDI office will be photographed in detail for analysis and/or comparisons. Every item will be carefully documented in detail using forensic photographic techniques following law enforcement standard operational procedures.

Image Processing: Analysis, Comparison, Metadata, and Enhancement

FDI utilizes a variety of forensic software and enhancement techniques to perform post processing on images submitted by our clients. Strict image enhancement protocol is followed and every step of the process is documented to ensure courtroom acceptability. The enhancement is always performed on a duplicate of the original image so that a comparison could be conducted to show any differences.  The content of the image is never altered, only the way that it is being viewed changes.

As a court qualified expert Mr. Knoerlein is able to provide an opinion and testimony on the processes used to accomplish the final results.
